Great Minds, a rapidly growing non-profit organization developing world class curricula for PK-12, seeks Wit & Wisdom Summer Associates to join our dynamic, dedicated team. Our mission is to ensure all students have access to a quality education and the full range of liberal arts and sciences.
The uncompromising curriculum from Great Minds assumes that every child is capable of greatness. We bring teachers and scholars together to craft exemplary instructional materials that inspire joy in teaching and learning. Our English curriculum, Wit & Wisdom®, Eureka Math™, and PhD Science™, all give school teachers what they need to take students beyond rote learning to provide a deeper, more complete understanding of the humanities, mathematics, and the sciences.
Wit & Wisdom Summer Associates, like Fellows, are a group of outstanding educators selected to work in collaboration with the Wit & Wisdom professional development team with the goal of facilitating Wit & Wisdom's in-person PD sessions throughout the summer. After completing a training regimen, Summer Associates assist users around the country from approximately May-August.

Which grade levels will be supported by Wit & Wisdom Summer Associates?
Individuals experienced in teaching Wit & Wisdom at any grade level (K–8) are welcome to apply.
How many Summer Associates will be selected to join the program?
Up to 25 Summer Associates will be selected to join our team of PD facilitators for the summer months of approximately May-August.
What is the training process to become a Summer Associate?
Selected applicants will participate in a virtual webinar meeting and attend a required three-day training in February 2019. At this event, prospective Summer Associates will observe Wit & Wisdom PD sessions, debrief the sessions with current Wit & Wisdom PD facilitators, and engage in guided study and discussion of other materials to support redelivery of Wit & Wisdom PD sessions. Following the training event, each prospective Summer Associate will co-present a session with a current Wit & Wisdom facilitator as the final requirement prior to facilitating PD independently as a Summer Associate.
How are Summer Associates compensated for their work?
Summer Associates will deliver Wit & Wisdom PD sessions during Summer 2019 and are paid a rate of $1200 which covers preparation, travel time, and PD delivery for each session.
How much travel is expected of a Summer Associate?
Specifics regarding travel depend on the demand for PD, but Summer Associates can expect to travel outside of their state. Applicants must be willing to provide a minimum of 10 days on-site professional development as assigned by Wit & Wisdom PD Services.

How will Summer Associates be selected?
Throughout the application and training process, prospective Summer Associates will be evaluated on their understanding of Wit & Wisdom, and facilitation skills. To become a Summer Associate, educators will need to demonstrate a clear grasp of the curriculum’s learning design, concise communication, and responsiveness to the needs of peers/participants. The ability to maintain the integrity of the curriculum coupled with a collegial approach is an essential balance to hold in order to be a Summer Associate.

How is the Summer Associate position different than the Fellows position?
Summer Associates and Fellows participate in the same recruitment and training processes, from application and interview to subsequent training. The difference is in the length of the position, and thus the associated work agreement. Summer Associates will enter into a limited term of part-time employment from approximately May-August. Fellows deliver PD throughout the year, entering an individual agreement with Great Minds for PD delivered on any non-school days and a job-share contract signed by their school/district for PD delivered during school days.
