Wit & Wisdom Fellows are a group of outstanding educators selected to work in collaboration with the Wit & Wisdom professional development team with the goal of facilitating Wit & Wisdom's in-person PD sessions. After completing a training regimen, Fellows support local and national implementation of Wit & Wisdom, traveling to assist users around the country, and working via a job-sharing arrangement for both their local district and Great Minds—the nonprofit organization that created Wit & Wisdom. The term of the fellowship is one year.

What is the cost for applicants/host districts?
There is no cost to the individual, as Great Minds covers all travel costs. Each Fellow's home school/district grants release time for the training sessions.
What is the timeline for becoming a Wit & Wisdom Fellow?
December 9, 2019 – Application deadline
January 15, 2020 – Selection of prospective Fellows
March 12-15, 2020 – Part I of In-person Facilitator Training
April 23-26, 2020 – Part II of In-person Facilitator Training
May 2020 – Begin delivering PD based on a Fellow’s end of school year
Which grade levels will be supported by Wit & Wisdom Fellows?
Individuals experienced in teaching Wit & Wisdom at any grade level (K–8) are welcome to apply. In addition to lead classroom teachers, educators with experience in Special Education, ESL, instructional coaching, and leadership are all strongly encouraged to apply.
How many Fellows will be selected to join the cohort?
Between 15 and 30 Fellows from across the United States will be selected to join our third cohort of facilitators.
What is the training process to become a Fellow?
Selected applicants will participate in a virtual webinar meeting in FebruaryMarch 2020 and attend two required three-day trainings in the spring of 2020. The two in-person training events are mandatory for all prospective Fellows. In addition to training, all facilitators are required to deliver selected PD session material in person as the final requirement prior to facilitating PD independently as a Fellow.
How are Fellows compensated for their work?
Fellows will deliver PD sessions during Summer 2020 and during the 2020–2021 school year. Fellows are paid a daily rate of $1200 for each session delivered during the summer and during school holidays. This stipend covers preparation, travel time, and PD delivery. During the school year, Fellows work for Great Minds according to the details of their job-share contract.
How much travel is expected of a Fellow?
The amount of travel will depend on the specific job-share agreement between Great Minds and the home school or district of the Fellow. For example, if one has an 80 percent: 20 percent job-share agreement with Great Minds, then over a two-week period, one could expect to work in one’s home school or district eight days and with Wit & Wisdom two consecutive days during the period. This would translate to facilitating two PD sessions per month.
Specifics regarding travel depend on the demand for PD, but Fellows should expect to travel outside of their district and state. Travel time will be compensated, and every effort will be made to ensure this is manageable with local school and personal responsibilities.

How will a school/district benefit from having a Fellow on staff?
The school or district will develop internal capacity and expertise to support ongoing implementation of Wit & Wisdom.
Fellows will be able to provide Wit & Wisdom PD sessions at no cost to their home districts as often as the district needs.
Fellows will have extensive opportunities to expand their network of Wit & Wisdom implementers, giving their school and/or district access to that network and additional support.
Great Minds will fund a portion of the salary and benefits of the Fellow during the course of the fellowship in a job-share agreement. The amount funded is determined by the amount of time dedicated to facilitating Wit & Wisdom PD during the school year.
How will Fellows be selected?
Throughout the application and training process, prospective Fellows will be evaluated on their content knowledge, understanding of Wit & Wisdom, and facilitation skills. To become a Fellow, educators will need to demonstrate a clear grasp of the curriculum’s learning design, concise communication, and responsiveness to the needs of peers/participants. The ability to maintain the integrity of the curriculum coupled with a collegial approach is an essential balance to hold in order to be a Fellow.
