Role Overview

The Services Designer supports Great Minds in its mission to foster effective implementation of all curriculum products. This role is responsible for researching, writing, reviewing, and revising content that supports the implementation efforts of current and potential users of Great Minds curricula. The Service Designer will develop professional learning experiences in alignment with best practices for adult learning.


This role is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced educator, instructional coach, curriculum developer, or school leader who possesses K-12 content knowledge and pedagogical expertise, passion for high-quality, knowledge-building curriculum, and the belief that every child is capable of greatness. While the work is remote, this will also be a highly collaborative position, necessitating a strong sense of teamwork and cooperation.

  • Director, Service Development

Responsibilities

  • Create external professional development to facilitate the highest quality of implementation, classroom instruction, and instructional leadership for users of Great Minds curricula
  • Define multi-year learning sequences – around content, instruction and academic equity – with both synchronous and on demand delivery modes – for teachers and administrators at the school and district level
  • Participate in the writing effort for all PD resources (e.g., digital course videos, digital course downloads and reading material, workshop facilitator guides, workshop facilitator handouts for example)
  • Participate in an iterative process of creating, facilitating, observing and revising offerings based on participant input and feedback
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of at least one of Great Minds’ curricular designs and ensure users are prepared to implement the curriculum with fidelity and to deliver high quality, equitable instruction to all students
  • Use quantitative and qualitative data on teaching and administrative practices and stated needs (including from student performance) data to create learning offerings
  • Design materials and experiences with an outcomes orientation, focused on the behavior changes required to implement Great Minds curricula
  • Create materials and experiences for internal development of Success Leads and Success Coaches
  • Think flexibly and openly about the future possibilities of service offerings
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with other members of the Service Design and Development team as needed
  • Meet deliverable milestones and deadlines consistently and bring a solutions orientations when and where roadblocks may occur
  • Provide timely communication with the Senior Director and Success leadership to address priorities, challenges, risks, feedback, and other matters relevant to Great Minds and its mission 
  • Cultivate and maintain a strong and supportive Great Minds culture in all work environments, with an emphasis on trust, collegiality, curiosity, and quality
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Job requirements

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience teaching or developing professional development in support of a specific curriculum or other educational resource
  • Content knowledge in math, humanities, or science with a bachelor's or master's degree in an associated content area
  • At least 1 year of experience designing and writing in-person or virtual PD workshops and/or writing asynchronous, digital professional development courses
  • Experience facilitating professional development workshops for teachers and administrators
  • Knowledge of the history and evolution of pedagogical approaches
  • Strong writing and editing skills with demonstrated writing ability

The expected base salary range for this position is $63,000 - $71,000. The offered salary, benefits and other incentives are dependent on numerous factors including, but not limited to location, work experience, skills and internal equity considerations.
