Job Purpose

Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Tax Manager will ensure compliance with federal and state direct and indirect tax laws and regulations and contribute to our goal of maintaining financial accuracy at our organization. This position will also oversee all tax-related functions, including coordinating the work of external tax advisors, filing tax returns, advising the leadership team and managing tax audits. The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in tax law and regulations, experience managing tax compliance and a passion for providing exceptional tax planning and advice.
Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation and filing of all federal, state, and local direct, indirect and property tax returns.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external tax advisors and direct the overall 3rd party strategy to effectively manage and allocate tax work within the company based on a thorough understanding of each vendor's capabilities.
  • Manage relationships with external tax advisors and consultants, when used/needed.
  • Coordinate the computation and documentation of Company’s R&D tax credit.
  • Oversee US sales and use tax compliance in collaboration with internal operations team and external tax advisors.
  • Develop and implement tax strategies to minimize tax liabilities and maximize tax benefits.
  • Manage the preparation and completion of accurate and timely year-end income tax provisions in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Prepare journal entries and related monthly/quarterly account reconciliations, analyzing fluctuations for assigned accounts to identify unusual trends or activity.
  • Ensure compliance with direct and indirect tax laws and regulations.
  • Conduct tax research and stay updated on changes in tax legislation.
  • Collaborate with finance and accounting teams on tax planning and reporting.
  • Handle tax audits and disputes with tax authorities.
  • Support special projects and initiatives (refund opportunities, new products and/or jurisdictions, census, and others).

Job requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in tax management
  • 3+ years of management/supervisory experience
  • Expertise in federal, state, and local tax laws
  • Strong knowledge of indirect tax
  • Demonstrated experience developing, maintaining and managing relationships with third-party tax consultants
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Meticulous, independent, detail-oriented, and highly organized

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CPA certification

The expected base salary range for this position is $121,000-$142,000, however the offered salary may be higher or lower than the above range dependent on numerous factors including, but not limited to location, work experience, skills and internal equity considerations. The base salary is not inclusive of benefits or other incentives.
