Role Overview

Reporting to the Director, Supply Chain Kit & Print Operations, the Senior Buyer will play a pivotal role in aligning our supply chain with the dynamic needs of educational environments. This role will act as the linchpin between Demand Planning, Sales, and Content teams, ensuring that Great Minds’ educational materials are stocked and ready to meet the demands of the current school year.


Specific Responsibilities:

  • Interact frequently with suppliers to review buying needs.
  • Develop and manage a demand planning forecast model.
  • Develop a long-term strategy for managing the science and math kit businesses.
  • Regularly meet with Sales, Product & Finance teams to identify annual forecasted and unplanned requirements.
  • Manage vendors to established SLAs.
  • Partner with internal teams to ensure necessary details are completed to allow for successful end-to end transactions, including timely qualification of components, list of back-up components, list pricing, costs, systems set-up, and invoicing.
  • Provide detail and executive level reporting for inventory, backorders, shipments, etc.
  • Investigate potential future contingency sources.
  • Refine metrics to gauge supplier performance metrics and track/resolve vendor issues.
  • Identify supplier reporting improvement opportunities; standardize reporting.
  • Publish presentations communicating planned and evolving annual kit sales and sourcing strategies.
  • Prepare supplier QBR meetings and meeting agendas.


Job requirements

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in education materials’ purchasing
  • 5+ years of experience providing recommendations for best BOM component/kit configurations applicable to existing and new products
  • 5 years of experience with materials planning and forecasting
  • 3 years of experience functioning at an intermediate level
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1 year of warehouse onboarding experience
  • 1 year of experience working with SmartSheets
  • Understanding of K-12 publishing companies

The base salary range for this position is $80,000.00-$89,000.00 however the offered salary may be higher or lower than the above range dependent on numerous factors including, but not limited to location, work experience, skills and internal equity considerations.. The base salary is not inclusive of benefits or other incentives.
