The Great Minds digital product team has a mission to amplify proven high-quality curriculum products through world class software to impact millions of educators and learners in ways the world has not yet experienced.


As a Senior Engineering Manager at Great Minds, you will lead and influence the development of our digital products serving students and educators across the United States. You will directly manage 8+ software engineers. You will indirectly manage the work of an additional 5-10 contractor software engineers. Your job is to ensure those teams are able to build great products for Great Minds. You will do so by aligning the team to product and technical vision, adjusting processes for efficiency and effectiveness, aligning engineers to work, and managing risk with the team.


You will be joining a team of 100+ full-stack, DevOps, and quality engineers. We're organized into cross-functional product engineering teams assigned to solve particular problems in the way they best see fit.


Responsibilities:

  • Influence overall solutions strategy and ensure the team is building great products through continuous review and feedback.
  • Collaborate with other senior technical leaders and software engineers to refine and evolve our technology architecture and standards
  • Manage a team of software engineers through one-on-ones, code and documentation review, and performance reviews.
  • Align software engineers to work that ensures quality delivery, engineer engagement, and overall management of platform knowledge across the team.

Job requirements

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience, of which 3 or more of those years show experience leading teams of 8 or more high-performing engineers in building quality products
  • Ability to mentor and lead software engineers developing production-ready code using one or more of the following languages/frameworks: JavaScript, NodeJS, React, Vue, or Angular
  • Expertise designing and operating in a cloud-native application environment (preferably AWS)
  • Able to effectively communicate solution architecture (written and verbal) to multiple audiences
  • Able to coach and mentor one or more software engineers through one-on-ones, performance reviews, and other forms of feedback
  • Sense of intellectual curiosity and a passion for learning with a strong problem-solving mindset

Location

  • Remote in the United States, working Eastern Time Zone business hours.

Selected candidate will be required to pass a criminal history background check.


The base salary range for this position is $166,000-$192,000, however the offered salary may be higher or lower than the above range dependent on numerous factors including, but not limited to location, work experience, skills and internal equity considerations. The base salary is not inclusive of benefits or other incentives.
