The PD Content Author, Mathematics is part of a team responsible for ensuring that Great Minds’ PD content and implementation resources meet the organization’s high standards for quality and coherence.

 

The PD Content Author, Mathematics will conceptualize, research, write, and edit professional develop and implementation resources including in-person workshops, virtual courses (synchronous and asynchronous), conference sessions, and more. They will follow team processes and guidelines and communicate effectively within and across teams.

 

This role is an exciting opportunity for a skilled writer with strong mathematical content knowledge to contribute to Great Minds’ organizational mission to create curriculum and resources that ensure all students have access to a quality education in the full range of liberal arts and sciences.

 

The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

 

Content Development

  • Execute the vision of Great Minds’ content development plans by conceptualizing, writing, and editing a range of implementation resources
  • Conduct research in support of content development
  • Demonstrate an editorial sensibility, including ability to
    • write and edit using precise, academic language
    • proofread for accuracy, expression, and adherence to the Great Minds and Eureka Math style guides
    • apply constructive feedback locally and globally in a timely manner
    • implement revisions to project design and content
    • produce consistent content and quality across products and projects
  • Demonstrate deep knowledge of instructional design and pedagogy, including:
    • research-based expertise in key elements of Eureka Math’s instructional design
    • research-based expertise in effective professional development and implementation success supports for educators
  • Demonstrate deep knowledge of the Common Core Standards for Mathematics
  • Collaborate within and across teams to produce professional development and implementation support content

Project Execution

  • Implement the product life cycle for multiple projects, completing the appropriate scope and sequence of work within the timeline required at each phase
  • Problem solve to create high-quality products by established deadlines
  • · Communicate clearly within and across teams
  • Exemplify an academic mindset that values an iterative cycle of ideation, thought partnering, prototyping, drafting, development, review, and revision
  • Embrace a learner mindset by being receptive to feedback and elevating different perspectives
  • Work independently in a remote environment
  • Adhere to a task- and deadline-driven workflow

Requirements

Relevant Experience and Skills

  • Deep content knowledge in mathematics with a bachelor's or master's degree in an associated content area
  • Superior writing, editing, and communication skills with demonstrated writing ability (writing sample required)
  • Minimum of 5 years teaching experience
  • Knowledge of the Common Core State Standards
  • Experience using Eureka Math preferred

Location

Great Minds is headquartered in Washington, D.C.; however, many team members work remotely. The PD Content Author will work remotely.

Travel

  • In person team gatherings may occur several times a year.
  • The PD Content Author may attend events in the field and may travel approximately 15% of the time, depending on location.
