Job Purpose

The Payroll Clerk is responsible for assisting the Payroll Supervisor in managing the entire payroll functionality, including the preparation of payroll and all related reporting. The Payroll Clerk will work closely with the Human Resource department on employee set up and taxes. This position will also be the point person in answering payroll related questions from employees and third parties.

Great Minds utilizes ADP Workforce Now for processing semi-monthly, multi-state growing payroll of 1,000+ employees. This position operates in fast paced, diverse, and hands-on environment. As the company continues to grow, the payroll Clerk must be able to adapt quickly to meet the changing needs of both the organization, as well as state and federal payroll/tax changes. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently as well as in a highly collaborative team environment.

The Payroll Clerk’s success will be through a proactive approach to their job, highly customer service oriented, passionate about accuracy and detail in the payroll function, and adaptable and flexible to the changing organization needs.

This position reports to the Payroll Supervisor.


Responsibilities 

  • Assist with Preparation and processing of semi-monthly payroll
  • Assist with payroll-related questions and communications with employees
  • Responsible for Verification of Employment and other third-party inquiries
  • Work with Human Resources, tax agencies, and payroll service providers to resolve tax issues
  • Assist with the reconciliation of quarterly and year-end payroll reports and W-2 forms to ensure accuracy
  • Participate in annual 401k audit
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Requirements

Requirements

  • Associates Degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 2+ years experience in Payroll processing
  • Experience with Excel
