Job Purpose

Reporting to the Director, Supply Chain & Logistics, the Lead Transportation & Logistics Specialist will manage our third-party logistics company, work with shipping and fulfillment vendors to monitor performance against KPIs and analyze logistics data.



Responsibilities

  • Manage relationships with third-party transportation and warehousing companies to ensure service, quality, and cost control.
  • Report for key performance indicators such as on time delivery, rate compliance, and volume coverage.
  • Review carrier performance data and identify any issues that need escalation.
  • Approve and track logistics vendor invoices and costs.
  • As part of continuous improvement, seek out changes to current procedures to improve performance, raise efficiency, and minimize errors.
  • Establish yourself as the primary liaison between Great Minds and the logistics vendor.
  • Proactively collaborate cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain strong Supply & Demand knowledge for various modes of transportation to enable Great Minds to take prompt advantage of changes in market conditions.
  • Analyze, recommend, develop, and lead the implementation of opportunities for improvement that optimize transportation.
  • Respond to shipping complaints, lost items, and damages.
  • Review carrier performance data and identify any issues that need escalation.
  • Schedule or attend calls with vendors on performance, including quarterly business reviews.

Job requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in logistics
  • Experience in successfully managing and working with third-party vendors
  • Expert level Microsoft Excel skills
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable with systems including WMS and logistics sites
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks and demands
  • High degree of confidence in negotiating contracts and/or freight rates
  • Willingness to occasionally travel to warehouses, <5%


Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or Business Analytics and/or Business management, Operations or a similar field

The expected base salary range for this position is $97,000-$103,000, however the offered salary may be higher or lower than the above range dependent on numerous factors including, but not limited to location, work experience, skills and internal equity considerations. The base salary is not inclusive of benefits or other incentives.
