Position Summary

 

The Implementation Lead, Humanities supports Great Minds in its mission to promote effective adoption and implementation of all Humanities curricula.

 

The Implementation Lead reports to the Regional Director, Central and plays a critical role in the development and execution of the Humanities implementation plan. The Implementation Lead is responsible for:

 

  • fostering long-term relationships with school leaders and teachers, based on trust, mutual respect, and shared goals for success
  • providing implementation resources and content support that lead to Great Minds’ high-quality instruction for all
  • ensuring that all Wit & Wisdom implementations result in student growth

 

The Implementation Lead will contribute to the Great Minds Humanities implementation success strategy, including:

  • managing a portfolio of strategic partnerships to support a set of schools with diverse needs
  • developing implementation plans, including professional development, with school districts
  • monitoring implementations in schools and providing timely guidance through observations and discussions
  • delivering onsite, job-embedded coaching
  • ensuring that Great Minds’ partners (both internal and external) understand the philosophy and best practices at the foundation of Great Minds’ curricula and support
  • identifying categories of partner needs, and addressing those needs directly or through consultation with other Great Minds’ teams
  • periodically observing on-site to gather data for long-term implementation and PD planning

 

The Implementation Lead is responsible for pro-active and effective development and oversight of the Humanities instructional support plan. The Implementation Lead maintains intimate knowledge of the features and advantages of Humanities Team products and offerings. The Implementation Lead demonstrates exceptional professionalism and communication skills.

 

This role is an exciting opportunity for a skilled instructional coach and educational leader to implement and contribute to Great Mind’s organizational mission to support curriculum and resources that ensure all students have access to a quality education in the full range of liberal arts and sciences.

 

Location

Great Minds is headquartered in Washington, D.C.; however, many members of our team of teacher-writers and professional development facilitators work remotely. It is essential for the Implementation Lead to live within, and have deep knowledge of, the region he or she supports. We are ideally seeking candidates who live (or will relocate to) Illinois, Indiana, or Ohio.

Travel

 

The Implementation Lead may travel approximately 30-40% of the time, depending on location, to:

  • create and support school-and district-level Implementation Plans
  • observe instruction and professional development on-site to gather data for long-term implementation and professional development planning
  • facilitate and/or observe professional development in the field
  • participate in quarterly or annual team meetings (average of 1-3 times/year)

Requirements

Core Responsibilities

 

The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

 

Implementation Support

·        Plan and execute pre-launch structures and communications, including sales content support and setting up and supporting successful pilots

·        Establish and monitor post-launch implementation plans that include checking in and reviewing data, answering questions about grading, assessment, encouraging on-going PLC and professional development plans

·        Shape resources, services, and recommended client practices through knowledge of academic research, collaboration with Great Minds colleagues, and insights gained from customer interactions and site visits

·        Identify trends and categories of implementer needs at all stages of implementation

·        Conceptualize, collaboratively develop, pilot and evaluate year-round and multi-year solutions-based plans, resources and protocols to:

o   provide all stakeholders with an understanding of the philosophy and best practices at the foundation of Great Minds’ curricula

o   partner with Account Sales Manager and Project Director to support district and state leadership

o   support site leadership in executing implementations with integrity

o   support teachers in improving their craft and delivering high-quality Great Minds instruction

o   support students and families in awareness of resources to support their learning

 

Regional Expertise

·        Stay abreast of, and share with the organization, the regional trends and factors that influence customer practices, sensitivities, and purchasing practices

·        Serve as a bridge across all colleagues (PD facilitators, Customer Success Representatives, Sales team), interacting with customers in the region 

·        Represent Great Minds through presentations at conferences, contribute to content in the form of blogs, whitepapers, etc.

 

Capacity Building

 

  • Cultivate and maintain a strong and supportive Great Minds culture in all work environments, with an emphasis on trust, collegiality, curiosity, and quality
  • Pro-actively support and coach site-based leadership to implement Humanities curriculum using Humanities implementation plans, protocols, and resources
  • Address site-based priorities and challenges with leadership
  • Act as the instructional point of contact for Great Minds implementation stakeholders, including state and district leadership and decision-makers
  • Offer transferable and scalable strategies for other partnerships
  • Provide timely communication with Humanities leadership related to risks, feedback, and other matters relevant to Great Minds and its mission
  • Contribute to the development of a network of advocates for the mission of Great Minds
  • Plan, delegate, conduct, and support leadership development

 

 Professional Development 

 

  • Support observation and development of facilitators to successfully communicate Humanities messaging and execute professional development for external partners
  • Work with Professional Development Services and other Great Minds team members to implement protocols for preparation, debrief, addressing challenges, and coordination with professional development sites
  • Evaluate execution of professional development sessions and provide feedback to improve practices.

 

Content Development

 

  • Consult with the Humanities Content Development team on the development of professional development resources
  • Contribute to the innovation of new products, features, offerings, or marketing strategies to promote the mission of Great Minds

 

Relevant Experience and Skills

 

  • Experience teaching or leading Wit & Wisdom
  • Demonstrated proficiency in educational coaching, site-based leadership, curriculum decision-making, and professional development facilitation
  • Minimum of 7-10 years teaching experience
  • Deep content knowledge in English Language Arts with a bachelor’s or master’s degree in an associated content area
  • Knowledge of the Common Core State Standards
  • Superior writing and communication skills
