Role Overview
As an advocate for teachers and students (PK-5), the Sr. Product Manager-Literacy Development will be responsible for interacting with external customers, partners, and internal stakeholders across the organization to ensure teams work on the right products and deliver these solutions to meet the identified market needs. To accomplish this, the Product Management Team interfaces across the entirety of Great Minds to provide clear and consistent communication of humanities objectives and product decisions.
The Sr. Product Manager-Literacy Development will act as the voice of the customer and bring a combination of qualitative and quantitative data sets to inform prioritization between and within product development efforts. This role will support both the conceiving and the building of new Humanities curricula and supplemental products with goals of increasing the number of teachers who use high-quality knowledge-building curriculum and improving student outcomes.
The Humanities Senior Product Manager-Literacy Development reports to the Humanities Product Management Director.
Responsibilities
- Lead product strategy for a specific strategic goal within the Humanities Portfolio. Examples include state-specific ELA (English Language Arts) editions, new digital learning experiences or opportunities to expand the Humanities offerings.
- Use product management best practices, understanding of the customer, market segment and Great Minds business to articulate product requirements.
- Work closely with instructional design and content development to assure alignment of product vision and execution.
- Conduct ongoing analysis of user feedback, competitive and market research and use findings to inform the different stages of product lifecycle. Drive user research for assigned initiatives including prototype/ proof of concepts testing, usability, alpha and beta testing.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to map business milestones, understand customer, partner, and internal group drivers to identify and scope products and priorities that improve customer satisfaction, business performance, and user experience.
- Define product components, configurations and pricing (both print and digital) that addresses market needs and optimizes adoption and implementation. Ensure such vision is executed by the different teams involved in establishing and launching new offerings to customers.
- Support financial analysis and drive business case development for data-driven decisions on investment priorities.
- Proactively partner with Implementation Success, Sales, and Marketing to ensure success across Go to Market activities for each new product or feature launch
Job requirements
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years delivering products in K-12 education with a proven track record of success
- Strong background in product management and/or product development of literacy products, especially in PK-5, along with deep understanding of evidence-based instructional approaches to reading.
- Business-savvy and strategic, can deftly manage cross-organizational projects that require a sophisticated level of sensitivity and excellent judgment. Demonstrated record of partnering with teams across an organization and influencing to achieve business results across multiple teams.
- A natural collaborator equally comfortable talking tech with developers, user experience with designers, copy and positioning with product marketers, numbers with finance and marketing, and strategy with executive leadership.
- Experience in PK-12 edtech product development, proficient in practices such as Agile and human-centered design
- Experience working with external vendors, product integrations and building accessible products is highly desired.
- Fluent in the use of applications and collaboration tools such as Atlassian JIRA/Confluence, MS Office 365 and Google suite
- Self-starter and curious that thrives in fast-paced environments, detail-oriented and thorough
- A passion for humanities and the importance it holds within the K-12 educational system
- Excellent writing, presentation and communication skills
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
