Job Purpose

We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Business Analyst with a strong data background to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for gathering data requirements from the business, prioritizing these requests, and managing the backlog in JIRA. The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of data analysis, has worked with Salesforce data before, be proficient with Power BI and its capabilities, and have the ability to write and execute SQL queries to conduct data analysis using the data from data warehouse platforms. Effective communication skills are essential to collaborate with various stakeholders and convey data-driven insights.


Responsibilities

  • Data Analysis & Interpretation: Analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that can drive business decisions.
  • Reporting: Prepare and deliver detailed reports, dashboards, and visualizations to communicate findings effectively to stakeholders.
  • Statistical Techniques: Use statistical tools to interpret data sets, paying particular attention to trends and patterns that could be valuable for diagnostic and predictive analytics.
  • Data Collection: Develop and implement data collection systems and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and data quality.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with management and other departments to prioritize business and information needs.
  • Database Management: Maintain databases, ensure data integrity, and perform data cleansing as necessary.
  • Problem-Solving: Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets, and provide recommendations for business strategy.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with data governance and privacy standards.
  • Requirement Gathering: Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather and document business requirements, ensuring a thorough understanding of business needs.
  • Process Improvement: Analyze and identify opportunities for process improvement, making recommendations to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Job requirements

Required Qualifications

  • At least three years of proven experience as a Data Analyst, Business Data Analyst, or Business Analyst.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and software (e.g., SQL, Excel, R, Python (Preferred).
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Strong knowledge of databases and data warehousing.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information in an understandable format.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think logically and strategically.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Team Player: Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Business Acumen: Strong understanding of business processes and operations, with the ability to translate business requirements into data solutions.
  • Technical Documentation: Experience in creating detailed documentation, including business requirements, functional specifications, and data models.
  • Stakeholder Management: Ability to effectively manage stakeholder expectations and maintain strong relationships with key business partners.


Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management, or Statistics. A master’s degree or relevant certification (e.g., Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP), Certified Analytics Professional (CAP)) is a plus.

Location

  • Remote but preferably local to the DC office

The expected base salary range for this position is $56,000-$69,000, however the offered salary may be higher or lower than the above range dependent on numerous factors including, but not limited to location, work experience, skills and internal equity considerations. The base salary is not inclusive of benefits or other incentives.
